Piers Morgan issues apology to David Beckham’s mum after ‘shocking’ Netflix doc conclusion
David Beckham’s Netflix documentary follows the star’s meteoric rise from humble beginnings to global football stardom.
Piers Morgan has issued an apology to David Beckham’s mum after admitting to using his face as a dartboard in 1998.
Beckham, the docuseries in which David and Victoria Beckham open up their lives, had the biggest audience of the year in the UK by a wide margin – and according to Piers, it’s easy to see why.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the TalkTV host revealed he had binged the entire series and “really enjoyed it”.
“Just watched the whole Beckham doc series on @netflix and to my absolute astonishment, really enjoyed it,” he penned to his 8.5million followers on the platform.
“And even more shockingly, I ended up liking & admiring them both. (Probably owe his mum an apology for the Mirror dartboard in 98 too…).”
In the post, Piers also apologised to his mum, Sandra, for using a dartboard of her son’s face in 1998.
The dartboard reference that Piers is referring to is, of course, the infamous moment that saw Beckham sent off during a World Cup match with Argentina – a game that England went on to lose in a penalty shoot-out.
Beckham was sent off for kicking the back of Diego Simeone’s leg with his heel in their round of 16 stage defeat, lashing out at the Argentina captain after he had shoved him to the ground
