Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in disagreement as Serb refuses to go into details

Novak Djokovic has admitted that he disagrees with Rafa Nadal’s comment that the Serb “feels more intensely” about winning more Grand Slam titles than his rivals. Djokovic overtook Nadal this year as his Australian Open, French Open and US Open victories put him at 24 Major victories – two clear of Nadal in second place.

Though Nadal can still catch Djokovic as he prepares to return from a long-term injury in the 2024 season, it is unlikely and the Spanish icon claimed that he was not upset by losing the historic accolade to Djokovic – as it means more to the 36-year-old.

“I’m not frustrated for a simple reason – within my possibilities, I’ve done all I can to make things happen for me,” Nadal told Spanish TV station Movistar+. “I think Novak feels more intensely [about] this than I do.

“Had he not achieved it, it may have been a bigger frustration for him. Maybe that is why he did it. I think he has had the ability to take ambition to the maximum. I think I’ve been ambitious too but a bit healthier, which allowed me to see things in a different way.”
