Rory McIlroy shares sweet moment with wife, daughter

It was a heartfelt celebration for Rory McIlroy on Sunday following his win at this weekend’s Genesis Scottish Open.

The Northern Irishman, 34, was greeted by wife Erica Stoll and their 2-year-old daughter, Poppy, on the grounds of The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, where McIlroy shot a 68 in his final round for a total of 15-under.

“Say well done, Dada,” Stoll can be heard saying as McIlroy sweetly kisses the top of Poppy’s head.

Stoll — who wed McIlroy in 2017 — then gushed over the golfer’s latest victory, stating, “Well done, lovey,” before the couple shared a kiss.

Stoll then quipped how Poppy wanted to hug McIlroy’s pal, Tommy Fleetwood, who tied for sixth on Sunday.

“We all need a hug,” McIlroy replied.

McIlroy sealed his second PGA Tour victory of the season with a clutch back-to-back birdies on the final two holes, including a brilliant a 2-iron into the wind on 18.

That’s probably going to be up there with one of the best shots I’ll hit in my career,” McIlroy said, according to the PGA Tour’s website.

The four-time major champion then expressed how this week’s win is “a huge confidence boost” entering this week’s British Open.

“I’ve had my chances over the last couple of months and been knocking on the door. … Hopefully, this breaks the seal, and we can go on from here,” McIlroy said.

McIlroy placed third at The Open last year.

He last won the tournament in 2014.

The Open comes just weeks after the PGA Tour announced a pending merger with its LIV Golf rival.

McIlroy, a vocal opponent of the Saudi-backed circuit, has not changed his view of the breakaway circuit following June’s bombshell news.
