‘A Class Act!’: Despite a Remorseful PGA Tour Debut, Lexi Thompson Still Shines Brighter Than the Men Counterparts
Lexi Thompson has been all over the headlines this past week because of her participation in the PGA Tour. Her historic Day 1 play at the Shriners Children’s Open had the LPGA stars rallying behind her for her historic performance on the Vegas greens.
As day 2 ends, despite a valiant effort, Thompson’s dreams of making history are thwarted, but that does not mean that her pride hasn’t remained intact. Irrespective of her loss, the American pro has showcased her mettle, her resilience, and her undeniable talent on a stage dominated by men, becoming the crowd favorite.
Lexi Thompson showed an impressive performance at the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas and almost made history as she aimed to become the first woman in 78 years to make the 36-hole cut on the PGA Tour. Thompson showcased her skills, making five birdies in a 10-hole stretch but narrowly missing the cut due to a few late bogeys.
Her highlight round, a 2-under 69, tied Michelle Wie West’s record for the lowest score by a woman in a PGA Tour round. The latter had shot 68 twice in the Sony Open, once as a 14-year-old prodigy.
