Victoria Beckham announces ‘Posh is back’ after ‘distancing’ herself from Spice Girls name
VICTORIA BECKHAM, who found fame with the Spice Girls back in the 1990s, informed her 28.7 million Instagram followers this week that “Posh is back”.
Victoria Beckham, who was given the nickname Posh Spice during her time in the band, opened up about the origins of her Spice Girls moniker on Instagram today. The singer-turned-fashion designer revealed it wasn’t her “first choice” of name but she ultimately grew into it and now looks back on those years with “appreciation”.
Victoria, who has her own beauty line as well as her self-titled clothing brand, said she wanted to “celebrate” Posh this week with the launch of a new range of lipstick bearing the name.
In a lengthy Instagram post, the mum-of-four revealed: “Posh forever changed the course of my life.”
She described herself as a “shy” individual before finding fame, but the persona had given her the courage to find her own “style and confidence”.
The 46-year-old began her social media post: “I was given the name Posh in 1996 over lunch with Peter Loraine of Top of The Pops Magazine and the rest of the Spice Girls.
