Simon Cowell’s ‘absolute torture’ over son Eric’s dreams of being a drummer in a rock band
Simon Cowell has shared a rare admission about his son Eric, who wants to follow in his father’s footsteps in the music industry.
Since 2001, the 63-year-old has been known as a no-nonsense talent expert after becoming a judge on the British competition series, Pop Idol.
He then went on to create the wildly successful X-Factor, Got Talent franchises and American Idol which launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, One Direction and Diversity.
Simon’s expertise could benefit his son who has hopes of being front and center stage, unlike his father who works behind the scenes.
The TV judge revealed the nine-year-old wants to play drums and sing in a rock band, he also has dreams of auditioning on Britain’s Got Talent one day.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Simon revealed the show had rubbed off on Eric, as he stated: “He’s now decided he’s going to audition for Britain’s Got Talent.
“I think he wants to be in a rock band,” the proud dad gushed, adding: “He loves Green Day.”
“That’s going to be total torture,” Simon joked of his son, who he shares with fiancée Lauren Silverman.
“I mean, of all the things I’ve ever done, this will probably be the hardest, because he does play drums. [He’s] going to drum and sing! I went, ‘Oh God, no.’”
