‘Such a Shame!’: Neither Nelly Korda’s Mishap nor Lexi Thompson’s Breakdown, but Something Else Takes the Most Heat at the Patriotic Showdown
Way before the Solheim Cup began, people were speculating over those in the team. Lexi Thompson’s form was a concern for everybody. However, no one thought about the coverage of the sport and the resources available. Maybe the golf world should have!
Friday saw the US Team in its best shape, at least in the morning. But not all was well. Nelly Korda‘s first tee-shot of the day landed in the pond, while Thompson’s hopes of an eagle on the 18th hole fell facedown, resulting in her losing the match. Surprisingly, though, that is not what the buzz is about.
While America clean-swept Europe yesterday in foursomes, achieving a historic feat in the morning session, Team Europe came back a bit in the fourballs as the day ended 5-3 in favor of the Americans.
However, along with the rise in excitement, there is an increase in the complaints around the Solheim Cup. Whether it’s the space, or the availability of resources, fans are dissatisfied with everything. Journalist Carolyn Scott took to Twitter and started the conversation about the same.
She wrote, “The golf at @TheSolheimCup has been spectacular. The logistics and organization of it all has been horrendous. Running out of food, coffee, water. Completely oversold with nowhere near enough seating for the number of people here. It’s actually a health risk.”
