Andy Roddick reveals why Carlos Alcaraz lost against Novak Djokovic
Although the Spaniard took the lead in the match, he wasn’t able to prevail over Djokovic as the Serb took his Wimbledon revenge. During an interview, Roddick opened up about the match.
Talking about it, he said, “Novak didn’t have his body completely figured out when he was 20 years old either. Like the book used to be to let’s extend rallies. Like what I used to try to do while playing Novak would be a suicide mission now.”
Further, the American legend feels that Alcaraz deserves time to understand his body well enough which will eventually help him on the court. On this front, Roddick revealed, “We do need to give Carlos the appropriate amount of time to figure out his body. I changed midway through. Diet can make a huge difference too. It’s trial and error.”
The Cincinnati loss was a mighty blow to Alcaraz ahead of the US Open. He is the defending champion in the last Grand Slam tournament of the season. Despite his Cincinnati defeat, the 20-year-old had a special message.
