‘I Was in Tears’: Lydia Ko Spills Everything About Her Fiancé and Credits Him for Everything

The New Zealand-born professional golfer Lydia Ko won the 2022 CME Group Tour Championship, the season-end LPGA Tour event, on November 20. She also won the Player of the Year award, a second in her career, and the Vare Trophy the second year in a row. Nonetheless, nothing would have made her happier if the love of her life was not present at the moment.

“When I won in Korea, he wasn’t there,” she said in the press meet after Tour Championship. “I was in tears,” she further added. “Because I wish I could, like, celebrate that special moment with him.”

Ko won the 2022 BMW Ladies Championship in Korea last month, which, according to her, her fiancé Chung Jun couldn’t attend. And he made up for it by being present and supporting her at the Tour Championship held in Florida.

Lydia Ko considers winning in front of her fiancé is special
Reports suggested that Ko and Hyundai Card Vice Chairman Chung Tae-young’s youngest son, Chung Jun, got engaged. Later, the golfer confirmed the news, although she didn’t disclose the wedding date.

“I wanted to win in front of him, win, like, for him,” the 2022 Tour championship champion told the media. “But I think just to be able to celebrate such a special moment with my loved ones,” she continued, “just makes it extra meaningful.”
