Madison Keys announces unfortunate news after beating Venus Williams in Montreal
Madison Keys has been forced to withdraw from Montreal due to a hip injury after beating Venus Williams. On Monday, world No 15 Keys defeated Williams 6-2 7-5 in the Montreal first round. The following day, Keys announced she was withdrawing from Montreal due to her ongoing hip injury.

Keys defeated Williams before being forced to withdraw from Montreal
On Monday, Keys made a winning start in Montreal by beating seven-time Grand Slam champion Williams.
In the first game of the match against Williams, Keys claimed a break and made a positive start. Up 2-0 against Williams, Keys had a break point to go up by a double break but didn’t convert as the former world No 1 managed to get on the scoreboard.
In the seventh game, Keys broke Williams again to open a 5-2 lead. Up by a double break, Keys routinely served out for the first set in the eighth game. After easily winning the first set, Keys experienced a bit of difficulty at the start of the second set.
In the second game of the second set, Williams had her first break points of the match but Keys saved a total of three break points to tie the set to one game apiece. In the seventh game, the first break of the second set was seen as Keys broke Williams for a 4-3 lead.
In the 10th game – when Keys was serving for the match – she missed out on seven match points as Williams broke back to tie the second set to five games apiece. However, Keys managed to keep her focus as she broke Williams again in the 11th game and served out for the match in the following game.
