‘Pissed Off’: Hours After Insane Announcement, PGA Tour Pro Bashes $7.6 Million Events Layout
After an exciting 3M Open last week, the PGA Tour is moving on with this week’s event, the Wyndham Championship. The tournament is being played at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, a regular Tour stop since 2008. However, it seems like not all on the field are fans of the course.
A PGA Tour pro who hasn’t fared too badly and even made it to the top-20 after the first round at the event on Thursday has expressed his disapproval of the North Carolina course. So what were these extreme challenges that the course presented to the Tour star that left him voicing “just not great” chants?
PGA Tour pro voices his frustration with the Wyndham Championship venue
The Wyndham Championship is in full swing at Sedgefield. After the first round, Russell Henley sits atop the leaderboard at 8-under par. And while he may have no complaints, the same does not hold true for the English golfer Matt Wallace. The 33-year-old, soon after the first round, took a heavy charge against Sedgefield at the after-press conference and vented out his frustration with a long monologue.
He claimed that the field was absolutely disagreeable and sternly spoke up against it. When asked about his performance, Wallace said, “A bit pissed off actually with the finish. Playing nicely. Yeah, just frustrated. I don’t like this golf course.” Matt termed his runoffs ridiculous and claimed that it is not fun at all to play on this course!
