Carlos Alcaraz has message for Novak Djokovic after his Wimbledon final win

Carlos Alcaraz says he will be “keeping my eye” on Novak Djokovic after his Wimbledon win as he is hoping to play the Serb “many more times.” Alcaraz, 20, delivered a stunning performance this past Sunday to beat Djokovic 1-6 7-6 (6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 in the Wimbledon final.

Now, Alcaraz owns a 2-1 head-to-head against 36-year-old Djokovic. Previously, Alcaraz defeated Djokovic at the 2022 Madrid Masters while the Serb won their 2023 French Open semifinal meeting. Alcaraz managed to beat Djokovic in a Grand Slam final and the 20-year-old Spaniard is aware now he has a target on his back.

Alcaraz on Djokovic: I’m keeping my eye on him
“I know that now everyone will want to beat me and that’s nice, but at the same time I’m keeping my eye on Novak. I would love to play against him many more times [so far it has been three, with a 2-1 advantage to the Spaniard], because it is a tremendous challenge and I still consider him to be the best.

I have always admired him, I have watched countless videos of him to learn. It’s not enough to win one game to change that, so I have to do it more times,” Alcaraz told El Pais. For Alcaraz, winning Wimbledon was a childhood dream come true.

But for Alcaraz, it still feels surreal to be a champion at the iconic All England Club.”No, the truth is that I don’t believe it, and I’m still telling my family: I’m Wimbledon champion! And those are big words.

It was a dream and it is crazy to have been able to make it come true. I always dreamed of winning this tournament because it is different and makes you feel different. You see the green, how perfect the grass is and how beautiful the club is, and it wins you over quickly,” Alcaraz said.
