‘Beyond Ugly’: Golf Community Mercilessly Criticizes Justin Thomas After He Makes Massive Blunder at the Open Championship
The first round of the long-awaited Open Championship finally started this morning and from the initial round, it has shown the players that it is not an easy job to attain victory at Liverpool this year.
Among the first to fall to the tough challenges of Hoylake is Justin Thomas. After delivering a disastrous shot in the first round only, Thomas made himself the target of vile public criticism.
Justin Thomas’s luck has been betraying him lately. His performance in the tournaments this season is up for debate. Last week he finished on T60 at the Genesis Scottish Open. Before that, he failed to make the cut in Rocket Mortgage Classic, Memorial Tournament, the Master’s Tournament, and the US Open. And after his disappointing performances at the two major events of this season, fans were hoping for something different at the Open Championship but it looks like luck is not on his side.
Thursday morning brought the first round of the British Open and Thomas has already off to a rough start there. Liverpool is filled with some nasty bunkers and Justin’s attempt to make a shot over them went awfully wrong. A video of the blunder shot was shared by NUCLR GOLF on Twitter.
It was the first hole of the championship and as one can see Thomas was chipping from the opposite side of the bunker. The distance to the hole was not much but still he somehow completely missed the shot and the ball ended up hitting the edge of the bunker and went into it. After the video surfaced, fans are not at all happy with Thomas who expects a much better performance from the two-time PGA champion.
