Iga Swiatek sent strong warning to Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova–see fans reactions

World No 1 Iga Swiatek congratulated Marketa Vondrousova on winning her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. Vondrousova, 24, upset sixth-ranked Ons Jabeur 6-4 6-4 in the Wimbledon final. Vondrousova, the 2019 French Open runner-up, had a few rough years as she had two surgeries on her wrist in recent years.

At this year’s Wimbledon, Vondrousova’s perseverance after injuries paid off as Swiatek is now calling the 24-year-old “a huge inspiration.””Amazing tournament Marketa! Congratulations. Your resilience and comebacks after injuries are huuuuge inspiration.

Just show us you coach tattoo!” Swiatek tweeted.

Swiatek, a four-time Grand Slam champion, looked good at the start of Wimbledon and it looked like the Pole could win her first Wimbledon title this year.

But then in the quarterfinal, Swiatek was upset by Elina Svitolina in three sets. Although Swiatek didn’t win Wimbledon, the quarterfinal result was still her best ever at The All England Club. Leading up to Wimbledon, Swiatek reached the Bad Homburg semifinal before suffering food poisoning and withdrawing from the tournament.

On Friday, Swiatek shared a message, where she declared her grass season a positive.”It’s been a while since I wrote more than few sentences here and maybe now it’s a good opportunity to elaborate. What a journey on grass this year.

I’m proud and content we made it to play two tournaments and achieve semis in Bad Homburg and quarter-final at Wimbledon. It’s a big step we took. I put in a lot of work, learnt a lot and what’s better: I found some joy in playing on grass.

We know what to improve, what to work on and focus on and that’s the most important part of this experience for me this year,” Swiatek said. Swiatek is expected to play again in early August, when the time comes for a WTA 1000 event in Montreal.
