Former Wimbledon finalist Genie Bouchard fell in love with Chris Eubanks’ personality and performance during his surprising run at the All England Club. To show her love, Bouchard shared an appreciation message wrote by model and actress Christie Brinkley.
“I’m pretty sure everyone fell in love with the winning personality of @chris_eubanks96. I know i did! His talent and determination propelled his unexpected meteoric rise thru the ranks at Wimbledon! I had so much fun watching him play, I really didn’t want it to end!
He may have lost the match today, but he has definitely won our hearts with his good sportsmanship and drive! I can’t not wait to see him back on the court again! He’s the guy to watch!!!” Brinkley wrote after Eubanks lost in 5 sets against Daniil Medvedev.
Eubanks is also into commenting, just like Bouchard
Bouchard, who has experience as a sports commentator, also reacted to Chris Eubanks’ take on commenting tennis.
“I think since I started doing a little bit of commentary, it really helps my perception on the court, I can take a little bit of the emotion and say, hey, if I was watching this match and calling it, what would I be telling myself? I plan on continuing to do it,” said Eubanks.Bouchard shared the American’s words on Twitter and commented: “Love this!”
After ending his Wimbledon run, Eubanks felt grateful. “Where I end up, I end up. But I think at this point, especially considering that I spent 5 years hovering in that 220 to 150 range playing so many challengers, it’s like man, at this point… it’s just the cherry on top,” Eubanks said at the press conference.
