Wimbledon forced to annoy Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray to keep grand plans alive

Wimbledon retains an 11pm curfew, despite Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray being unhappy at matchdays being forced to end early.

One of the biggest talking points at Wimbledon this year has been the 11pm curfew. Matches are forced to stop at that time, something that has frustrated the likes of Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. However, reports say the deadline must be retained as chiefs at SW19 have grand plans for the future…

According to the Daily Mail, Wimbledon are ‘resigned to maintaining the 11pm curfew as they are wary of antagonising local residents’.

And they don’t want to rock the boat because supremos need their support as they look to expand.

It’s claimed Wimbledon want to build a 38-court expansion of their premises at the adjacent Wimbledon Park.

This would then, in turn, allow the All England Club to host their own qualifying tournament and boost the popularity of the sport in the process.
