Novak Djokovic’s daughter cheering against him in Wimbledon clash vs Andrey Rublev

Novak Djokovic has revealed that his daughter will be rooting for his opponent during his quarter-final match at Wimbledon. While the youngest of his two children isn’t as involved in tennis, the Serb said that Andrey Rublev was her number one.

Djokovic will continue his quest to match Roger Federer’s men’s record by winning his eighth Wimbledon title this year. But one of his own will be rooting for him to lose before he can get there as he takes on Rublev in the quarter-final.

The world No 2 already knows that his five-year-old daughter Tara is backing his opponent and was looking forward to hearing her thoughts after he finished his fourth-round match on Monday. “She is [a fan of Rublev], yes,” Djokovic told the BBC.

“I can’t wait to go back to the house to talk to her about it. She normally doesn’t follow tennis much. But she likes him.” And the 23-time Grand Slam champion said Tara had a unique reason for making the world No 7 her favourite player.

He added: “She likes him for his headband and for his energy and intensity. That’s the number one choice of my daughter, yes.” But he still didn’t want his daughter to see her favourite player get the victory. “Hopefully, daddy comes in front tomorrow,” he laughed.
