BIG HITTER Andy Murray launches major new business venture
SIR Andy Murray has applied to trademark the name of his luxury hotel to launch a range of merchandise.
Double Wimbledon champion Murray is registering Cromlix as a trademark to give him exclusive rights over it for more than 100 different goods and services.
The application, which has been published in the Trade Marks Journal, includes air fragrance diffusers, soap, perfumes, massage gels and hair conditioners.
Murray is also seeking ownership over any furniture, candles, bath robes, dressing gowns and slippers bearing the name.
Other services listed in the application included hotel business management and hotel services for providing food and drink.
The former world number one has to wait until next month before his application is formally accepted by the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO).
In that time, anyone can raise an objection which he may have to defend at a hearing.
Murray made his application through specialist intellectual property law firm AA Thornton.
Murray bought Cromlix near his home town of Dunblane for almost £2 million in 2013 and it has since become a five-star hotel with an Albert Roux restaurant which has won a string of hospitality industry awards.
It was run by a management firm until December when Murray, 35, and wife Kim announced they would be taking over the running of it.
