Who are golf’s Grand Slam winners and who are close? Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy one win away from immortality

Golf’s Grand Slam remains the pinnacle of the game and one of the hardest feats to achieve in world sport.

Only five players in the long history of golf have claimed Grand Slam glory – winning each of the four majors in a career.

A host of legendary names have tried and come close but the group of players to do it has remained unchanged since 2000.

Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, who share an incredible 33 major titles between them, head up the illustrious list.

They are joined by Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen as the only men to claim all four championships.

Rory McIlroy failed on his latest opportunity to complete the career Grand Slam as he missed the cut at the Masters last month.

Jordan Spieth chased glory at the 2023 PGA Championship in Oak Hill but will have to wait another year for a shot at the Grand Slam.
