The 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship is just hours away from kicking off at the Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. The event boasts a stacked 156-player field this year, including 43 of the top 50 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
One player that fans are looking forward to is LPGA sensation Nelly Korda, who is returning to action after over a month. As she gets ready to tee it up at Baltusrol, the World No. 2 has now received great praise from a fellow LPGA heavyweight and two-time major winner.
Nelly Korda is showered with praise from her biggest competitor
After taking a backseat in golf for more than a month due to a back injury, Nelly Korda has finally returned to compete at the 2023 Women’s PGA Championship. The 24-year-old had shockingly missed the cut at the Founders Cup in May, following an amazing streak of eight top-10 finishes in nine consecutive starts.
As she hopes to regain her momentum, Korda will no doubt draw strength from the words of Lydia Ko, one of her greatest golf rivals. Despite being two of the biggest rivals on the LPGA Tour, both players share an incredible camaraderie off the course. On Wednesday, the World No. 3 Ko took to Instagram to share a video of Korda practicing, writing, “Because I can’t get enough of this beautiful girl the next two days, why not make it three in a row.”
Ko, meanwhile, is hoping to recover from a slump after a series of forgettable outings. The 26-year-old’s performances so far in 2023 starkly contrast her form from the previous year, wherein she picked up three trophies and won her second LPGA Player of the Year Award.
A victory for Ko at Baltusrol will help her add a third major win to her bag. Korda, who previously won the coveted tournament in 2021, will also be vying for her second major win.
