Martina Navratilova rips Camila Giorgi over ‘disgusting’ act against Venus Williams
Martina Navratilova called out Camila Giorgi after the Italian screamed in delight following Venus Williams’ hard fall. During the first set of their Birmingham clash, Williams took a hard fall after which Giorgi was heard screaming in delight.
When Williams got up, she gave a pretty cold stare to Giorgi. Fortunately for 43-year-old Williams, she was able to continue the match and later clinch a 7-6 (5) 4-6 7-6 (6) win over 48th-ranked Giorgi in the Birmingham first round.
“Serves her right. Venus kicked her butt anyway!!! How disgusting from Giorgi if that is how it happened,” Navratilova said. Rennae Stubbs responded: “Oh it did. I even had to rewind the point to make sure it was her. Was so bad!”

Totally disgraceful,” Navratilova added.

Navratilova calls out Giorgi’s actions against Williams
After the match was over, Williams celebrated pretty loudly – something that’s not very usual for her.
Also, Williams said she was “so surprised” Giorgi wasn’t the top-ranked player in the world. That particular comment drew lots of attention as many fans felt Williams was throwing a serious shade on Giorgi with that comments.
“I thought I played so well today, and she also played incredible. I’m so surprised she’s not No 1 in the world. There were so many moments where I just thought, ‘This match is over,’ and she would hit a shot from out of nowhere.
She pushed me to be better than what I thought I could be, and it’s great for me. I haven’t played a lot of matches, and it’s great to come through,” Williams said after the match.
Last weekend, Williams turned 43 years old.
Just a few days later, Williams defeated a top-50 player. Williams has always loved playing on the grass as five of her seven Grand Slam titles came at Wimbledo
