Watch: Aryna Sabalenka has message for Iga Swiatek after Stuttgart final loss

Aryna Sabalenka told Iga Swiatek to enjoy her new Porsche and also asked the Stuttgart organizers if they could just give her a Porsche if she makes a third consecutive final at the tournament in 2024. On Sunday, Sabalenka missed out on a chance to win her third title of the year after suffering a 6-3 6-4 loss to Swiatek in the Stuttgart final.

Porsche is the main sponsor of the Stuttgart tournament as Swiatek also went home with a Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo. “Enjoy this car (laughing),” Sabalenka said.

Last year, Sabalenka was also beaten by Swiatek in the Stuttgart final.

“Can we make a deal if I make another final, I just get an extra car? (laughing)” Sabalenka said.

Swiatek beats Sabalenka for a great start to the clay season
Last year, Swiatek went undefeated through the entire clay season.

This year, Swiatek also started her clay season by winning it all in her very first tournament on the dirt. Swiatek may be off to a great start but she does not want to put enormous pressure and expectations on her back.

“Last year was really, really tough, and I felt like this season may be tough because of what people are saying and expectations from the outside. Also, I know how it is to like to win these tournaments in a row. So I just hope that I’m not gonna be the kind of person who is going to suddenly expect it in every tournament.

So I’m happy that I managed to work through it. Maybe I’m still gonna have situations like that, but that was the biggest thing that I had to go through at the beginning of the year. Now I feel like I can just use my experience a little bit more, more than like worry about stuff.

I’m just happy that I’m World No. 1 for more than a year, and it’s an exciting time,” Swiatek said.
