Days After a Major Life Update, Is Jessica Korda Qualified for the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship?

The 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship takes one of the high positions when it comes to women’s golf majors. This tournament has one of the richest histories to present since its existence in 1955. On the LPGA Tour, almost every year, the field of this major witnesses top-class golfers taking on the greens.

This year as well, an ambitious 155-player field has been almost set. Based on the qualifying and exemption criteria, the list harbors some of the marquee talents. Due to a few uncertainties and obstacles, however, the name of a few star golfers was absent from the list. Where does the American star, Jessica Korda fit in all this? Let us find out!

Once in their prime form, the Korda sisters were a force not to be reckoned with on the golf field. Unfortunately, at the end of the 2022 season, a sudden turn of events took place. The older of the Korda siblings, Jessica Korda, announced her withdrawal from the rest of the season.

What started off as a start to recovery has led Korda to miss quite a number of tournaments. In fact, the last appearance the star made on the course was during the Cognizant Founders Cup, but suddenly after the second round, she withdrew from the event. More so, the golfer has had only seven starts in the 2023 season, with her best finish at the DIO Implant LA Open.

The field in LA witnessed her strike some mesmerizing shots and end up at T18. In addition to all these stats, the 30-year-old hasn’t registered any wins to her name since the 2021 Tournament of Champions. The point to focus on is the reason behind Jessica Korda, despite being an excellent player, she has not been able to deliver the powerful strikes the golf world recognizes her for.

The answer remains simple! Her health condition hasn’t allowed the golfer to perform optimally. As a matter of fact, the LPGA Tour golfer recently informed, through the social media platform, how difficult the past year has been for her. Korda even added that her back injury hasn’t ameliorated yet. This has increased her struggles while playing golf and further, pushed the golfer to withdraw from tournaments.
