‘No One’s Even Looking at Me’: Jordan Spieth Unbothered About Losing Popularity Contest After Massive Fanboy Moment
One of the most historic golf tournaments, the Memorial Tournament, is currently underway. Some of the most renowned golfers are part of the field at Muirfield Village Golf Club. And among them is one of the fan favorites, Jordan Spieth. The golf pro found himself with an incredible start during the first round, but for him, that wasn’t the highlight of his week! Why? Well, thanks to another athlete!
Spieth’s highlight of the week came on Wednesday, when he teed up with an NBA star! Excited and overwhelmed, the 3-time PGA Tour winner couldn’t help but let his fanboy instincts take over!
Ahead of the first round of the event, Spieth played in the pro-am on Wednesday. And that’s when his week started off with a bang. Alongside being paired with the singers Jake Owen and Keith Mitchell, the golf pro also had two NBA stars on his team, Damion Lee and Steph Curry. Teeing up alongside the four-time NBA championship winner, the three-time major winner was more than excited, and it was quite visible to all. Curry himself is an avid golfer and was introduced to the sport at a very young age.
Hence, naturally, during his press conference after the first round on Thursday, Spieth was asked about his experience playing alongside the NBA celebrity. Talking about the kind of influence Curry, who is an avid golfer and has been playing since he was a child, had on the course, the golf pro opened up. “We’re walking, and no one’s even looking at me,” he said, talking about the authority Curry had. He added that all eyes were on the Golden State Warriors star, so he decided to just walk to the next tee.
