Carlos Alcaraz: “I don’t have much free time, I take great care of my body”

The path of Carlos Alcaraz at the Roland Garros 2023 continues without interruption. The number one in the world flexes his muscles and inflicts a real tennis lesson on Lorenzo Musetti, asphalted in just over two hours of play with the result of 6-3 6-2 6-2.

The tennis player from Murcia, 20-year-old who has already won the US Open 2022, during the press conference dealt with many topics. Here are his words: “I don’t have much free time, I usually go to training and I’m only focused on that.

I have my own routine off the court and before competitions, I’m very close to my childhood friends in Murcia and I spend a lot time there. I am aware that when it comes to playing I have to avoid mixing my free time too much with my career.

However I have to say that for me it is essential to have my family here in Paris, they allow me to disconnect and avoid talking only about tennis. I’m also fortunate that I consider my team as part of my family and this gives me balance and peace during tournaments.” Carlos talked about playing five-set tournaments and revealed: “I feel very good physically, I always go out to give everything on the court and I tend not to measure my strength.

I tend to take great care of my body in order to come prepared for bigger matches. I really like to play best of five sets, I feel comfortable and I know that I have to be ready to face my rivals, both physically and mentally ready.

I want to be like the best and for this I have to maintain this consistency and continuity of results.” The Spaniard then said: “I think it was my best game in the tournament, I was a little nervous at the beginning but I soon found a way to organize myself on the pitch and was able to maintain concentration and intensity throughout the game.

Musetti wasn’t able to stay consistent but I’m satisfied with the level I showed during the match.” Alcaraz also talked about his athletic conditions, which appeared really positive: “I work a lot on speed, we do 30-40 meter sprints and honestly I’ve never timed myself.”
