Emma Raducanu shares latest update from hospital bed: ‘All glitz, 3/3’

Emma Raducanu announced on Instagram that she has undergone her third and final surgery. On May 3rd, Raducanu announced she was undergoing surgeries on both hands and her left ankle. After undergoing surgery on her right hand, Raducanu also surgically repaired her ankle on May 5th.

Today, Raducanu also had surgery on her left hand and completed the three planned surgeries. “All glitz. 3/3,” Raducanu captioned her Instagram Story.

Raducanu faces a lengthy recovery
In her announcement from May 3rd, Raducanu confirmed she would miss the French Open and Wimbledon.

“It is safe to say the last 10 months have been difficult as I dealt with a recurring injury on a bone of both hands. I tried my best to manage the pain and play through it for most of this year and end of last year by reducing practice load dramatically, missing weeks of training as well as cutting last season short to try [to] heal it.

Unfortunately, it’s not enough. I’m having a minor procedure done on both hands to resolve the issues. I’m disappointed to share that I will be out for the next few months and while I am at it will have another minor procedure that is due on my ankle.

It pains me that I will miss the summer events and I tried to downplay the issues so I thank all my fans who continued to support me when you did not know the facts. Looking forward to seeing you all back out there,” Raducanu announced on May 3rd.

Raducanu’s announcement from earlier this month suggested that the Briton will definitely attempt to return to tennis at some point during the 2023 season. However, Raducanu is facing a recovery from multiple surgeries and some fear we may not see the Briton on the court until 2024. For Raducanu, the most important thing is to have her recovery go as planned.
