Patrick Mouratoglou shares message after Simona Halep’s shock US Open exit

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou admitted it was a big disappointment for Team Simona Halep to end the US Open campaign with a first round loss. On Monday, Halep shockingly exited the US Open after 124th-ranked qualifier Daria Snigur handed her a 6-2 0-6 6-4 loss.

During the North American hard court swing, Halep captured her second title of the season after winning Toronto. Also, Halep suffered a round-of-16 loss in Washington, while she pulled out of her Cincinnati second round match.

“Unfortunately it is the end of our US season. It ended with a big disappointment right after a great result with the title in Toronto,” Mouratoglou wrote on Instagram. “Whatever happens, good or bad, what always counts the most is the trust in the process, and the deep feeling of doing the right things to get where we want to be.

Thank you @simonahalep for giving everything every single day. It is all a coach could ask for. Thank you team @arnaudrestifo @candice_go. Thanks to all the fans and special one to the Romanians for being incredibly supportive both in victory and defeat.

Time to prepare for the next challenges.”
