After a series of 23 won matches and four consecutive tournament victories (Doha, Indian Wells, Miami and Stuttgart), Iga Świątek was supposed to fight in Madrid, but after consulting her team members she withdrew from the competition. She stated that she needed rest and time to calmly heal her injury.
– The time has come to regenerate my shoulder, which was giving subtle signs of fatigue after Miami. Unfortunately, I need a break from constant playing – Iga Świątek wrote to the fans , who has already played 35 matches this season.
– My body needs regeneration. After resting and taking care of my arm, I will be preparing abroad for the tournament in Rome and Roland Garros – added the Polish woman, and told the media in Madrid: -I would like to see a bit of Europe and stay in the dynamic of the tour. We will try to find a suitable place for training, I think in Spain or Italy – said Iga Świątek.
