Tommy Fury has revealed how he suffered the rib injury that led to his first fight with Jake Paul being cancelled.
Tommy Fury has admitted that Tyson Fury was largely the reason for his first fight with Jake Paul getting cancelled. Tommy claims the broken rib that halted their December 2021 bout was inflicted by his older brother during a punishing abdominal conditioning circuit.
A video of Tyson battering Tommy’s ribs with a heavy medicine ball circulated ahead of the fight with many speculating that this had led to the Brit’s pullout. And now it appears that was the case as Tommy told strongman Eddie Hall during a recent YouTube video: “I moved on to the medicine ball, you’ve all seen the video.
Yeah, bang, the whole left side of my body quivered after it went down. My dad, Tyson, everyone [used the] medicine ball on me… Bit too hardcore yeah. Pounding it on Tyson’s stomach and going on to mine is a bit of a difference. Obviously, the fight fell through twice, and it started the whole ‘Tommy is scared’. That was never the case.
“All of those reasons why the first fights didn’t happen were all legitimate. So to go out there and to put an end to it all and to shut him up once and for all it felt amazing because people don’t understand. I saw it myself with him and I said to myself there is no way I can lose it defies all odds.”
