Tiger Woods has released a statement confirming he has undergone successful surgery on his right leg after withdrawing from the Masters, though going under the knife once again has sparked fears that his career could be set to come to an end. WThe subtalar joint is located just below the ankle joint, between the talus bone and heel bone and was injured in his 2021 car accident, with the surgery aiming to fuse the two bones back together.
oods’ latest procedure was a fusion of the subtalar joint “to address his post-traumatic arthritis from his previous talus fracture,” according to a statement released on Woods’ Twitter account.
A statement released on Woods’ social media accounts on Wednesday read: “Earlier today, Tiger underwent a subtalar fusion procedure to address his post-traumatic arthritis from his previous talus fracture.
“It was performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley at HSS Sport Medicine Institute in New York City. He has determined the surgery to be successful. Tiger is currently recovering and looks forward to beginning his rehabilitation.”
