‘I Would Be Having Babies’- Canadian Tennis Beauty Eugenie Bouchard Minces No Words to Ooze Confidence About Her Ability to Win Tournaments
Canadian Eugenie Bouchard was once touted as a tennis sensation, and her stellar performances took her up to World No. 5 in the WTA rankings. However, injuries derailed her career, and right now, the 29-year-old finds herself languishing at No. 292. The good thing for Bouchard is that she has recovered from her 17-month spell on the sidelines through injury. It seems like she is ready to compete at the highest level again.
In a press conference ahead of the ITF Oeiras Ladies Open in Portugal, Bouchard revealed the passion she still has for tennis through a hilarious comment. The 2014 Wimbledon runner-up would hope to kickstart her career again as she aims to return to the top of women’s professional tennis.
Lengthy absence of Eugenie Bouchard from tennis hasn’t shattered her self-belief
During Bouchard’s press conference, an interviewer asked her if she still believes she can win trophies. Bouchard replied, “Of course, I mean, I feel like I wouldn’t put in all this time and effort if I didn’t still believe that.”
She also reflected on her lengthy spell on the sidelines owing to various injuries. According to Bouchard, recovering from such a lengthy spell out is always difficult. “It’s a lot to come back from injury. It takes a lot of patience, a lot of time, a lot of energy and life is short, you know.”
Bouchard saved the best words for the conclusion of her answer. “So, I’m doing it because I think I still can. If I didn’t, I would be having babies or something else.” Several coaches have tried to help Bouchard get back to where she was, but her injuries hampered that from happening.
