PGA Tour’s Massive $56,600,000 Announcement Triggers Fumes in the Golf Community: ‘Tiger Woods is Winning’
The PGA Tour has been making massive changes to vie with its nemesis LIV Golf. While the Saudi-funded Tour has leverage over the American Tour in terms of finance, the PGA Tour is attracting its players with its new schedule. Earlier today, the Tour announced the schedule for the fall season, where the world’s best golfers will not only compete for the FedExCup but also for the status for the next season.
Among many of its changes, the PGA Tour also announced that from next season onwards, January will mark the start of the new season, and not in the fall like it usually used to commence. While golfers on the Tour give it all to be eligible for the FedExCup, only 70 qualify for the season finale.
Moreover, 20 of those golfers have to return back home after losing the first of the three events. Nonetheless, the new schedule released earlier today will give the men a better opportunity for the next season. Let’s take a better look at what the FedEx Cup Fall looks like.
The new schedule of the PGA Tour goes beyond the season finale
The new fall schedule will consist of seven events, down from nine last year, and will begin two weeks after the end of the Tour Championship. The Fortinet Championship will mark the beginning of the FedExCup fall from September 11 onwards. CJ Cup and Houston Open, which were previously competed during the Fall season, will be moved to the regular Tour schedule.
The new change will benefit the players immensely. Winners of these events will earn a two-year exemption on Tour. Moreover, winners of the FedExCup Fall season will also earn a direct entry into the PGA Tour’s designated events and also to the four Majors championships, in case they weren’t eligible in the past.
