‘He Doesn’t Want Any Record to Be Tarnished’: Days After Tiger Woods’ Masters Disappointment, Golf Legend Spits Facts About the 47-Year-Old

Golf has seen many pros make bold statements and follow through on them. Tiger Woods has arguably made one of the boldest of these statements, about him riding the golf cart. Of late, his stance on the use of a cart in PGA Tour events has become quite clear. And fans have often wondered the reason for his adamant mindset. Well, they don’t need to anymore, since a Tour veteran recently shed some light on it!

On multiple occasions in the past, the 15-time major winner has declared that he would never ride a cart while playing in official PGA Tour events. And despite his numerous injuries and health conditions, Woods has always stood by this maxim. He believes that treading the course on foot is part of the intensity of the competition that the Tour brings. And, of course, a golf cart goes against that!

Recently, PGA Tour veteran, Jerry Kelly, revealed the reason behind Woods’ adamance on not taking the cart. “He won’t [ride a golf cart] on the PGA Tour because the records have been set without carts,” said the 3-time PGA Tour winner, talking on the ‘Golf Sub Par’ podcast. “He doesn’t want any record to be tarnished by anything.”

Kelly claimed that the Tour and its prestige meant a lot to Woods, and he didn’t want to drag down its reputation. He also revealed that the case was completely different for the senior circuit, a.k.a., the PGA Tour Champions, where Woods is expected to start competing in a few years once he turns 50.
