Rafael Nadal could say goodbye to tennis at the Roland Garros
Many were waiting for his official decision and it has finally arrived. Rafael Nadal will miss one of the most important tournaments of the season. Rafael Nadal’s start to the season was anything but positive. The Spanish champion, unlike what he did at the beginning of 2022, had numerous physical problems and is still struggling to recover.
It all started at the 2023 Australian Open with the tennis player who lost in the first rounds to the American Mackenzie McDonald, winner in four sets. Rafa did not retire on that occasion but on that occasion he suffered a heavy injury.
During the second set, Rafa suffered a physical problem and suffered a second-degree injury to the iliopsoas muscle of his left leg. Since then, Nadal has never returned to the court and many were waiting for the decision on the Montecarlo Masters 1000, the first major tournament on clay.
Well Rafa has decided, he won’t be able to participate in the Monegasque tournament, a tournament that has given him many satisfactions during his career. Through a brief statement on social media, Nadal said: “Hello everyone, I’m not yet ready to compete at the highest level.
I won’t be able to play in one of the most important tournaments of my career, the Monte Carlo tournament. I’m not yet in a position to play 100% and therefore I will continue my preparation journey. I hope to be back on the pitch soon.”
