Nicola Pietrangeli on Matteo Berrettini’s crisis: “Melissa Satta is not to blame”
After the United Cup, Matteo Berrettini is experiencing a negative period in the ATP Tour on a physical level and, above all, in terms of results. The 26-year-old Roman didn’t leave his mark even in the US Masters 1000 tournaments, although he showed some improvement in the game, and became the third best Italian behind also Lorenzo Musetti.
It was Nicola Pietrangeli who talked about the situation of the two Italians, who expressed his considerations in an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Giornale. The former tennis player was very clear about Berrettini: “He’s in crisis but not because of Melissa Satta, beautiful girl and also nice.

Matteo shoots many commercials, advertises too much, wastes time and has to reflect on his game.” On the subject, the class of 1933 added: “I have a lot of respect for him, because at Wimbledon he managed to beat a record of yours truly which dated back to 1960, when on the Center Court in London I was defeated in the semifinal by a certain Rod Laver after 5 infinite sets.

Pietrangeli on Musetti
Pietrangeli also had his say on Lorenzo Musetti’s current moment: “He’s the boy who plays better, even though he’s not the strongest in the Italian team,” he said.
The former player then focused on the Davis Cup: “I hope Italy can win it again. That way we wouldn’t talk so much about our 1976 victory.” The 89-year-old then spoke about what he doesn’t like about tennis: “The commentary.
