Tiger Woods has sent the rumour mill into overdrive after being spotted playing a round of golf at Augusta National, ahead of what could be one of the most remarkable returns the sport has ever seen.
The 15-time major winner’s presence at the iconic Augusta National course has sparked a frenzy of reports out of America that the 46-year-old is pondering an audacious comeback at upcoming Masters tournament.
Woods, who has triumphed five times at The Masters, has not played on the PGA Tour since November 2020 and came close to losing a leg in a horror car crash in February 2021 that almost spelt an end to his career.
The 46-year-old required surgery on open fractures to his lower right leg and further injuries to his foot and ankle after the crash, and said at one point he feared that his leg could be amputated.
However, Woods was spotted arriving at the Augusta National course to see how his body would stand up to the physical demands of another assault on the Masters.
A Sports Illustrated report said a source, who did not wish to be named, confirmed that Woods had arrived with son Charlie, and that world No.7 Justin Thomas, a close friend, was also with them.
Video of Woods’ private jet – with his distinctive logo on the tail – surfaced on social media a short time after the golfer and his entourage touched down in Georgia.
