Daniil Medvedev commented on his wife Daria’s role in having success at the highest level.
The Moscow native, who got married last year, said: “She is my biggest support and she helps me on all the aspects of the life. As a family, we work together to make being a better
She is helping me to earn more. That’s our main goal. She is special for me. We started our relationship in an interesting way, I understood she is special.”
On how he got more professional as years went, Medvedev added: “I played Sascha Zverev in the Washington quarter-finals, at the time he was playing like crazy and he won both in Washington and Montreal.
I spoke to my coach and he told me that I should have become professional. I did not understand why and he told me that it’s tougher to win when you want to play PlayStation, stay on the sofa, watch TV programmes.
Last winter we worked a lot both physically and mentally and my life totally changed, I focused on tennis every minute of my life and now I am the number four in the world.”
.On Marat Safin working as a commentator during the US Open final, Medvedev concluded: “I heard a lot about Safin’s comments but I did not watch it.
