Tyson Fury is gearing up for his rematch against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder tonight. The pair will clash again in Las Vegas, over a year on from their controversial split-decision draw.
During the show, Fury and his wife Paris reflect on the dark period of the boxer’s life.
The former world heavyweight champion struggled with depression, drugs and alcohol following his win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
Paris says things got “out of hand” as Fury went more than two years without a fight.
She said: “Tyson had ballooned to 29st.
“He was drinking heavily, he was doing things that even I didn’t know about and it was just getting worse and more out of hand.”
In the programme, Fury talks about how his depression led him to a suicide attempt by driving his Ferrari 190mph toward a bridge.
However, the 31-year-old stopped because he “heard a voice saying ‘don’t do this, you’re going to destroy your family’s lives’”
