‘Kids these days’: Andy Murray unimpressed by Jack Draper’s Davis Cup celebrations

Andy Murray was left unimpressed by Jack Draper’s celebrations after the two British tennis players shared a car journey home from a thrilling Davis Cup win over France.

Draper, 21, was filmed singing along to The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” while chugging a beer. Murray, 35, in the driver’s seat, wore a frown and gave Draper the middle finger. He later captioned the clip on Instagram: “Kids these days… three and a half hours of this on the way home”.

The video went viral on social media, with many fans finding it humorous. Draper himself took it in good spirits, revealing that Murray had actually given his singing a 7.5/10 rating.

“I got a lift back with Andy from the Davis Cup. I’d maybe had a few drinks. He was in the car. Some of the tunes I was picking out maybe he wasn’t enjoying my singing. We have a great relationship,” Draper said.

Murray, who has won three Grand Slam singles titles and two Olympic gold medals, is known for his serious demeanour on court. However, he has also shown a lighter side in recent years, and his reaction to Draper’s celebrations is just the latest example.

The Davis Cup win was a good result for Great Britain, who advanced to the last eight of the competition. Murray and Draper are both key members of the team, and their relationship is likely to be crucial to the team’s success in the future.
