Jordan Spieth has a special needs sister who has helped make him great

I’m running out of reasons to root against Jordan Spieth. Not that I’m looking for them, but any inclination I have to lean towards a tight Sunday is dissipating rapidly.

Jordan Spieth is rocking at the Masters and part of the reason is because of his special needs sister named Ellie who’s watching back in Dallas.

“Jordan wouldn’t be where he’s at today if he didn’t grow up with Ellie,” said Chris Spieth (their mom) to ESPN.

“Jordan realizes this isn’t real life at the Masters. Trying to sit around and have dinner when his sister doesn’t want to eat when everybody else is eating and has a fit, that’s real life.”

Jordan agrees.

“I really love when she’s able to be out there, love spending time with her,” said Spieth.

“It’s humbling to see her and her friends and the struggles they go through each day that we take for granted — their kind of lack of patience or understanding, where it seems easy for us and it’s not for them.”

Spieth, who is running away with the Masters, clearly has a good head on his shoulders. That’s a good thing, too, because he’ll need to be steady coming home on Sunday.
