Wimbledon fans in frenzy over Tsitsipas’ girlfriend’s actions during Andy Murray showdown
Stefanos Tsitsipas’ intense showdown with Andy Murray was paused on Thursday night due to the Wimbledon curfew.
Stefanos Tsitsipas’ girlfriend, fellow tennis star Paula Badosa, sparked a reaction from fans on Thursday night by shooting a glaring look towards the Greek’s father. Badosa came out to support the men’s fifth seed at Wimbledon during his match with Andy Murray, which was suspended after three sets with the 11pm curfew closing in.
Murray and Tsitsipas will resume their second-round slugfest on Friday with the Brit up two sets to one. An evenly-matched showdown saw Tsitsipas take the first set before Murray showed his usual grit to fight back and leave himself in a promising position for the restart.
Among Tsitsipas’ entourage was Badosa, the women’s world No 35 with whom he became an item less than two months ago. And fans were quick to spot a strange interaction between the 25-year-old and his father, Apostolos, in the players’ box.
A brief glance behind from Apostolos was greeted by what fans deemed to be a glaring ‘side-eye’ from Badosa, which seemed to drag on for a few seconds too long.
